iPhone Glitch Strikes Again? No Excuse

Incase you didn’t realise, we moved forward (ba dum tish) to British Summer Time over the weekend. It was probably harder NOT to realise that the clocks were going forward; there is enough press coverage via the local media stations and the main news channels constantly remind you throughout Saturday. So today this article was published on the Daily Mail website about people who rely on their phones to get them up for work on a morning and being an hour late on Monday.

I own an iPhone and use it’s alarm to wake me up for work (I did not alter any settings and the alarm worked just fine), but just as a back up incase something should happen during the night such as a dead battery or broken phone, I use another cunning method to wake me up: The radio alarm clock.

I would bet that nearly everyone has one in their bedroom, the time is clearly displayed and easy to change if needed, it’s plugged into the mains and will probably only go wrong if there is a power cut during the night. Although if your phone died and you had a power cut during the night you can consider yourself really unlucky. If I was downstairs and the TV program finished at 10:30pm, then I went upstairs to find that I had travelled back in time by an hour I would like to think I’d realise something was not quite right.

It baffles me why people rely on their phones to wake them up when there is a perfectly good alternative sat next to the bed – and quite often the sound quality of the radio is lot better than the tinny noise from the iPhone. There was enough noise made in the media the last time the clocks changed about the iPhone’s clock not making the change successfully (again, I didn’t change any settings and mine was fine), so why did people not think that it might happen again?

It’s not difficult. Use something designed to wake you up in the morning to make sure you aren’t late for work – the good old fashioned radio alarm clock. There is a reason it has been with us for so long
